Projects

AFRC-CRAD-1130 Advanced Forming Technologies for Complex Shapes Spacecraft and Satellite Propellant Tanks
Sancho, Alexander (Co-investigator) Storr, John (Co-investigator) Miscandlon, Jill (Co-investigator)
Various manufacturing methods and materials were explored for the production of satellite propellant tanks for the European Space Agency (ESA). The aim was to identify and prove a manufacturing process which is more efficient than the current one. The AFRC contributed by studying and testing alternative forming processes. TWI was also part of the consortium and investigated potential welding methods.
01-Jan-2019 - 31-Jan-2019
AFRC-DIRF-1040 Capability to Hot Form OGV Flat-pack Specimens with Increased Ramp-Angles
Sancho, Alexander (Co-investigator) Storr, John (Principal Investigator)
The forming cycle of a particular component was investigated through experimental forming trials, with the aim of optimizing the manufacturing process.
